Hello lovelies!!
I am a great fan of proper manicured nails. And getting it done at a salon is something I really look forward to. But lets face it. Its not always possible to head to a salon to get your nails done, due to a myriad of factors- Time and Money being the most common one. Because, hey, not everyone is born a millionaire who can just go to the salon and spend thousands and thousands of bucks without giving it a thought.
WE all paint our nails at home but with these tips and tricks you can get a professional finish without burning a hole in your pocket.
TIP 1- NEVER ENDORSE CHIPPED NAIL POLISH
Once your nail polish starts to chip, its simply time to wipe it off. Don’t bother putting one more coat over it. Its a thing I have done in the past and regretted. The new layer doesn’t stick on very well because of the uneven surface and looks highly gross and clumpy. Not to forget the time frame it takes to dry up. Wipe it up and apply fresh coats.
TIP 2- APPLY A BASE & TOP COAT
If you don’t have a base coat, you can apply the top coat as the base coat and it works just fine(at-least for me!). If you are wearing bold colors, then its imperative to wear a coat of clear polish on your nails or the dark color can stain your nails and the corners and it takes a considerable amount of remover to wipe it off.
TIP 3- INVEST IN A GOOD TOP COAT
Yes, its always necessary to have a top coat from a good brand. I am not saying that you do not buy your nail polish from great brands. But just in case you are buying some cheap nail polish, its more necessary to apply a shiny later of top coat on it. So that it looks classy and polished.
TIP 4- STAY AWAY FROM HOT/LUKEWARM WATER AFTER APPLY NAIL POLISH
Don’t apply nail polish at a time when you are required to do some household chores immediately after it which involves using hot water. This will cause the paint to crack and look ugly(That would be the last thing on our list)If possible dip your fingers in cold water. It dries the nail polish fast.
TIP 5- GIVE YOUR NAILS A BREATHER
How much ever you might like your superbly glossy nails, its always necessary to let your nails get some oxygen in between coats, or they tend to turn yellowish due to lack of it. And use these days to pamper your nails and nail beds with some oils(almond and olive oils work just as fine).
P.S.- I am wearing the O.P.I nail polish in the shade- #Chicago Champagne Toast
Let me know if you have some tips I have not mentioned above. Would love to learn.
